The Dalton School is located just a few blocks away
from Central Park on the Upper East Side of New
York City. Founded in 1919, the Dalton School has
grown into an academic institution with an
international reputation. The site itself has
undergone continuing expansion since its move to
its current location on East 89th Street, resulting in
a dignified building with spacious rooms for the
study of film. The New York Film Academy’s summer
program will be housed in an entire floor of the
Dalton school, utilizing classrooms for Camp Programs,
hands-on demonstrations, and editing facilities.
The Dalton School site serves as the summer location for
our tween programs in New York City, rivaling
Los Angeles as one of the greatest centers of film
production in the world. The advantages to studying
film in New York are numerous. Students will have
the opportunity to work on supervised shoots in the
country’s most thriving metropolis. If New York City
can be considered the back lot of the film program,
then this is a back lot that is as tremendously diverse
as the inhabitants. Students are energized by the
hustle of Midtown, the art life of the Village, the
shoppers of Chinatown, and all the neighborhoods
around and in-between.
