OVERVIEW

Florence, full of inspirational history and culture, is a captivating backdrop for any film. Often called the cradle of the Renaissance, Florence's ideas of beauty through architecture have had a worldwide impact, and the city has an impressive artistic legacy, having been the home of such distinguished artists as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. For several hundred years it has served as a center of artistic excellence.
The bustling activity of Florence's central market helps give the city its vitality. The city is small but remarkably beautiful. Within the city's limits, sprawled on either side of the river Arno, a visitor can wander from the Cathedral to the famous Uffizi gallery. Mostly pedestrianized, walking is a pleasant way to visit most destinations, and the narrow Mediterranean-styled streets and piazzas are full of locations for film shoots.

FACILITIES

The New York Film Academy has been invited by the government of Tuscany to hold our program in a renovated renaissance era building in the center of the city, moments away from the Duomo itself. We feel it's the perfect place to learn the art and craft of filmmaking.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

In Florence, students will enjoy the Galleria dell' Accademia, where Michelangelo's David is housed, as well as other noted Renaissance works of art. The Cathedral Museum also includes in its collection some of the finest examples of Renaissance art found anywhere in the world, including work by Michelangelo, Donatello, and Leonardo da Vinci.
There are also bookshops, Internet cafes, coffee bars, restaurants, the world's best gelato, cinemas, and a myriad of stores. Our film school is also near the train station, in the full bustle of the city center.

HOUSING

The Film Academy will assist students to secure comfortable apartments at a nearby residential hotel.
