The Twelve-Week Evening Digital Video Editing Workshop follows the same structure and curriculum as the four-week fulltime workshop offered at our film schools, but was designed to meet the needs of students who have other daytime commitments. This evening workshop gives students all the necessary skills to edit with the Final Cut Pro software, and a knowledge of the editing craft from an artistic point of view. The workshop meets three evenings each week — Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday — from 7:00 - 9:30pm at our film school in New York and from 7:15 to 9:45 pm at our film school in Universal Studios, Hollywood.
Overview
From day one, editing film school students learn the fundamentals of digital non-linear video editing on Apple's Final Cut Pro film editing software. Over the course of twelve weeks students will edit three different types of material: a short scene from a narrative film, a music video, and a trailer for a major motion picture. The final weeks of the workshop are devoted to building a DVD reel of the projects created during the course.
Each week is divided into class time and supervised lab time. Lab time is part of the schedule, and allows the students to utilize the skills they have acquired.
