The New York Film Academy is an exceptional space that offers a number of unique spaces including a striking, air-conditioned 1100 sq. ft. Screening Room in our unique and historic building, on the easily accessible Union Square area of New York City (L, N, R, Q, W, 4, 5, 6 trains). The Screening Room space seats 150 guests, an adjoining reception hall is also available for an additional 80 guests and there are a number of smaller adjunct rooms—making it one of New York’s premier event spaces. The spaces can be adapted to accommodate a wide range of events.

Room Descriptions

The New York Film Academy offers style and a unique venue for your important events. The building is a landmark-protected structure with a handsome exterior, inviting classic interior and a convenient location. Its state-of-the-art facilities make the New York Film Academy ideal for screenings, conferences, receptions, banquets, private parties, openings, readings and other special events. The original building, designed by the architects Thompson, Holmes, & Converse and Charles B. Meyers in 1929, is a Colonial Revival structure built of red Harvard brick with limestone trim.

The Robert K. Hartman Screening Room

New York Film Academy - Robert K. Hartman Screening RoomThis arched ceiling auditorium and stage facility with green room and dressing room seats 150 people. It is fully equipped with stage lighting and the latest equipment for all of your audio-visual needs, including DV and 35 mm film presentations. With an adjoining reception hall, the Screening Room is an excellent location for screenings, meetings, product launches, conferences and much more.

 

The Reception Hall

New York Film Academy - The reception Hall The Receptions Hall features thirteen-foot ceilings and is a spacious setting for almost any type of event, from elegant receptions and dinners to artistic salons and corporate soirées. It’s a wonderful space as an addition to the Screening Room or as it’s own special room. It comfortably accommodates 100 persons, with seven adjunct rooms for break out sessions or other creative uses.


 

The “Classrooms”

Seven small rooms each named after film legends: Mel Brooks, Billy Wilder, Jonathan Demme, Charlie Chaplin, Luis Bunuel, Martin Scorsese, Alfred Hitchcock, Nagisha Oshima and Akirea Kurosawa. Rooms are private spaces with tall pane windows that overlook Union Square’s East Side, hi-lighting the hustle and bustle of one of New York’s most traversed spaces. These private meeting rooms each hold 12-15 people comfortably and are located on the same floor, opening up to the Reception Hall making them ideally suited as separate breakout rooms for conferences.
