Young Filmmaker Zac Wong Receives Great Reviews

Every year the New York Film Academy summer film camps instruct teenagers who go on to make independent films during camp and shortly after graduation who find success in student film festivals throughout the world. When we hear about their success as a filmmaker it gives us an overwhelming sense of pride

Here is an update the mother of Zac Wong, a young and talented filmmaker who has studied at our film camps in 2007 and 2008.

My son Zachary Wong was in your teen film camp program for the last two years and it was a great experience for him. Afterwards, he then made a short film” NOT WITHOUT MY DOG” at age 12.

The film was beautifully shot with a 16mm camera in black and white.

In 2008, this film was officially selected to Los Angeles International Children’s Film Festival, San Diego International Children’s Festival, Kid’s First, and was nominated for best picture at Young Cuts International Film Festival at Montreal. The reception was overwhelming in Canada and US, he got to speak to the audience and answer questions about his film and his film making experiences. Top Canadian producers were there and just loved this film. It was also written up in the “Montreal Gazette” ( Canadian newspaper), with great reviews; comparing his film with Buster Keaton’s films.

We thought you might like to know about this and feature this on your website as you often do when your student brought success to inspire other young film makers.

His experience with the New York Film Academy was fantastic. He was greatly inspired by your wonderfully supportive faculty and staff.

Zachary’s goal is to become a filmmaker, and is continuously making films. These day’ he is working on two animation films.
