It didn’t take long for former NYFA student Pedro Ultreras to hit the ground running after graduating from the film school less than two years ago. His debut film, 7 Soles, (Seven Suns) is premiering in the US at the 2008 New York International Latino Film Festival on July 24th, and we plan to be there to cheer him on!

The film documents an issue very close to the writer/directors heart. “Despite the fact that there’s press coverage on immigration issues almost on a daily basis, as a field reporter I saw many outrageous and terrible things that the newscasts don’t show,” says Ultreras, “I wanted to offer a more human and more realistic depiction that we generally see on TV.”

7 Soles, filmed in Spanish with English subtitles, has already premiered at a number of international festivals, including the Malaga Film Festival in Spain, and the Shanghai International Film Festival earlier this year. To learn more, visit the movie’s official site at 7soleslapelicula.com
