Film School Graduate Josefina Mata Wins at LA Femme Film Festival

Josefina Mata graduated from the New York Film Academy One-Year Filmmaking program in December 2008. Her thesis film just won Honorable Mention the LA Femme Film Festival in Los Angeles this past October 2009.

SYNOPSIS OF FILM: “Lejos del mar” (“Far From The Sea”) explores how a mother’s love drives her to madness at the loss of her beloved daughter. Ciudad Juarez is shown as a real and abstract Mexican city through this women’s story.
