Controversial Film About a Plot to Assassinate Barack Obama Makes People Think

bildeNewsleader - It’s hard to sell people on a movie about a plot to assassinate Barack Obama, but New York Film Academy graduate Chris Townsend is hopeful.

Townsend, 28, originally of Crimora and now a resident of Lynchburg, said his intentions are not to make a political movie, but rather to make people think.

The film, which has a budget of about $8,000, is a story about four Virginians who plot to kill Obama during his presidential campaign.

But at the heart of it, the story really isn’t political, according to the cast and crew. It’s about a jealous boyfriend, Charlie, who thinks his pregnant girlfriend, Jennifer, is cheating on him with his best friend, Sam.

It’s about a group of poor, desperate drug addicts, struggling to survive.

It’s about relationships and tolerance and basically, not letting revenge and close-mindedness destroy you.

At 6 a.m. Friday, the actors gathered in the McDonald’s at the Staunton Mall to discuss filming for the day.

Rain, technical problems after one of the main cables for the camera monitor broke, costume disasters and more rain caused lots of rearranging to the already packed schedule…full story.

Why does it have to be about the current president??? Assasinate someone who isnt in office. Its like, everyone wants to exploit the fact we have a black president and they forget to be respectful. When, when has it ever been ok to make a film about assasinating a president let alone a president currently in office?

have to agree that it’s a sleazy idea. this filmmaker is obviously just trying to get attention for his film by using Obama’s name because the filmmaker didn’t need to make it about Obama and it is disrepectful to do so.
Obama’s name has cache and the bottom line is always about $$$–not making people think.
