ACTING & FILM SCHOOL

An audition is not required for admission to The New York Film Academy, however it is highly recommended. The audition serves as a process to ensure proper class placement. In addition the audition is an opportunity to receive a talent based scholarship award. The New York Film Academy encourages ALL prospects to audition for a talent based scholarship. Talent based scholarship awards are based on the actor’s audition, and completed application. If a prospective student chooses not to audition for class placement; a formal interview with an academic advisor is required. All admitted students will follow an intensive curriculum designed to launch a career in film and television.

Audition Students have 3 choices:

Attend an audition at one of our Audition Tours around the country.

Make an appointment for a specific audition time at our New York or Los Angeles campus.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

Acting for Film:
Prepare, memorize, and present two one-minute contrasting monologues from either a published play or screenplay.

Musical Theatre:
One-minute monologue from a published play or screenplay and a 32-bar song. Please bring your own sheet music, in your key, marked with your 32 bars.

When choosing audition materials, it is important to choose roles that are age and type appropriate. It is also important to read the entire play or screenplay prior to your audition. Completed applications are preferred prior to your audition and will enable us to determine your scholarship award.. Admissions Representatives will contact you shortly after your audition with a scholarship decision.
