Graduates of New York Film Academy's One-Year Filmmaking Certificate are now eligible to receive 36 prior learning credits toward New York Institute of Technology's Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Arts degree program. COMMUNICATION ARTS
What better place to earn an undergraduate degree (BFA in Communication Arts, BS in Advertising) or a graduate degree (MA in Communication Arts), than NYIT’s Communication Arts program located in the communications capital of the world? Classes are taught in Manhattan or Old Westbury, Long Island, and the university is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Opportunities abound for study at many of our global campuses including full degree programs or study abroad classes. Students recently shot documentaries in Beijing, Shanghai and Paris.

Our emphasis is on career-oriented education under the leadership of faculty with years of executive level experience in their respective fields. Students work with real-world clients producing projects in film, video, public relations and advertising campaigns for clients such as the Museum of Broadcasting, HBO, MTV, TV One, United Nations, Foreign Press Association, Martha Graham Dance Company, Girl Scouts, Eurocircle, and international consulates located in the metropolitan NYC area, to name a few.

Hundreds of credit-bearing internships (undergrads are eligible for up to 12 internship credits in their degree program), are available during the academic year and in the summer. Students gain valuable experience at television and radio stations, with news organizations, in public relations and advertising agencies, production companies, corporations and non-profits and many of these internships lead to full-time employment.

Students have the opportunity to work on Long Island News Tonight, an Emmy award winning news program seen on local television in Long Island. Electronic journalism classes taught on the Manhattan campus produce segments for cable and international television distribution. On both campuses, we have state-of-the art production facilities.

Degree programs are individually adapted to meet the needs and interests of students. We pride ourselves on our small classes and the individual attention this affords students and our flexible scheduling. Constantly monitoring and adapting to the environment, we offer about 20 special seminar classes each semester including NYC Through Film, Acting for TV/Film, Directing for TV/Film, Premier TV Program Development, TV Research and Sales, e-marketing and Branding, Advanced Radio Production, Producing for Broadband, Special Events and Multi-cultural Advertising. Undergrad students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, with the permission of the Chairperson, may take graduate courses in their junior and senior years. Students transferring with 32 credits or less, may qualify for our combined BFA/MA program, receiving a 5 year degree in four or less years.
